Coco's was born out of the need to address the lack of cookery experiences available to children and young people today. I wanted to create a platform for children to be able to learn about food in a fun and safe way through a mixture of practical cookery and themed activities in order to develop a life-long and healthy passion for good food.
I strongly believe that inspiring passion about food from a young age is the answer to many of the eating problems that we are experiencing nowadays. As well as encouraging a healthy relationship with food, there are a whole range of additional benefits to cooking with children.

Cooking provides practical experience for many core literacy and numeracy skills such as reading, following directions, understanding sequences, weighing, counting, adding and measuring. Doing even small tasks in the kitchen helps your child to develop fine motor skills & hand eye coordination. All children love to show you what they can do and even making something small will give them a big sense of achievement, especially if the whole family tucks in and praises them!
Spending time in the kitchen and cooking new recipes also helps children to develop a positive connection to all different types of foods including fruits and vegetables. Children will learn the basic cooking skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. Teaching children about food and how to cook and eat healthily greatly increases their chances of becoming nutritionally aware adults. To me, the link between the disappearance of cookery from the national curriculum and the biggest obesity crisis in history, is obvious.
